A broad Financial Controller role within a growing organisation, combining solid financial control with reporting, process improvement and the opportunity to help shape a developing finance function.
The opportunity
A growing organisation in the healthcare sector is looking to strengthen its finance team with a Financial Controller.
This is a broad role for someone who enjoys being close to the numbers while also looking beyond them. You will take responsibility for the quality and reliability of the financial administration and play an important role in month-end closing, reporting and the annual audit.
At the same time, the Finance function is developing. You will work closely with colleagues in Finance and Data to improve reporting, strengthen processes and provide better financial insight to the wider organisation. This creates an opportunity to combine hands-on financial control with analysis, improvement and genuine ownership.
What you'll do
- Take ownership of the month-end closing process and ensure the accuracy and completeness of the financial administration.
- Prepare the financial documentation required for the annual accounts.
- Prepare the financial documentation required for the annual accounts. Coordinate and support the annual external audit.
- Prepare financial reports as part of the planning and control cycle.
- Act as a financial sparring partner for internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and improve financial reporting together with colleagues across Finance and Data.
- Perform periodic financial controls and identify opportunities to improve processes and reporting.
- Help ensure financial information is reliable, accessible and useful for decision-making across the organisation.
What matters for this role
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Economics or a related field.
- At least two years of relevant experience in financial control, accounting or a comparable finance position.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting and relevant Dutch tax legislation.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Experience working with ERP systems and an understanding of how operational processes affect the financial administration.
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Professional proficiency in both Dutch and English.
- A structured, accurate and proactive way of working.
Nice to have
- Experience supporting or coordinating an external audit.
- Experience improving financial reports, processes or systems.
- An interest in data, reporting and further professionalising a Finance function.
- Experience working within a growing or changing organisation.
- Experience within healthcare, pharmaceuticals or another regulated environment.
